Traumatic six months for this poor guy. These malicious minded people should pay dearly for this. If we have a Mother and Child, why not a Father and Child? This photo clearly shows pure paternal love for his daughters.

Oli Guacamole!

In Uncategorized on May 1, 2012 at 10:14 am

Feeling lethargic, literally dragged myself out of bed this morning.First of May or Labor Day holiday here in the Philippines.Unfortunately,it’s “Mayday Mayday!” to the unemployed. From a ho-humm to a humdinger of a day! Thanks to this email notification.

I’m pretty sure my shrieks jolted the whole neighborhood. Turns out that I posted something on his wall, and he liked it.So don’t fret if you still remain unnoticed even after you’ve decided to permanently reside on his FB wall, you’ll have your time. ;-p
To those who don’t recognize Oli (where have you been hibernating, geez!) well,he’s the traveller/host of Lonely Planet Six-Degrees China and Cash Cab Asia, just to name a few.
When I chanced upon a Lonely Planet episode featuring him,got so hooked that I would have gone amuck if anyone dared to snatch the remote control away from me. 😀 In my book,he’s the host with the most!. Oli Pettigrew transformed our Lonely Planet into a Lovely Planet and gave it a 360-degree turn. 🙂 More power and on your next Manila trip, the chicken adobo is on me. 😉

An Ode To Mom

In Uncategorized on April 30, 2012 at 4:41 am

Time check: Almost lunchtime, but still neck-deep with work.Poised to finish this till my large intestine gorged onto my small. But I don’t know why a very familiar image suddenly flashed into my mind.Mommy.Knees grew weak, had to grab my chair. Sat their motionless, tears trickled down my cheeks. Oh no,forgot that I did put on mascara, for sure I look like a raccoon now. Mom suffered a massive stroke this year, leaving her bedridden for a couple of months. It was a difficult two months for me,being the breadwinner of the family.Dad passed away 2001 and I’m an only child,so it’s just been me and Mom.Emotionally, physically, mentally and financially, was badly beaten and bruised. Before and after work, had to see if she had taken her breakfast/dinner and maintenance medications.Sleep eluded me,have to be up almost every hour to check on her.A nurse, therapist and caregiver all rolled into one.But have to give special mention and credit to my angels here on earth,we’ve managed to pull through. With therapy, she can walk a little now,but no trace of the bubbliness she once possessed. I always tell her to fight off her illness but the sad fact is she’s slowly succumbing to her summers of life. This morning,as I bid her goodbye, she held my hand and squeezed it,and uttered Thank you… So had to ask her, thanks for what? “Thanks for taking care of me. I’m very proud to have you as my daughter” Fighting back the tears, told her,” Oh,don’t worry about me,all I want is for you to be well” Then she told me that whatever happens to her,I have to be strong.Life must go on. My sturdy facade almost crumbled into pieces. No matter how much you condition your mind, you can never be ready for this.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner,a post coming straight from the heart is a fitting tribute to a wonderful woman who has given me unconditional love. A thanks from my Mom? No way! I owe her my life. If not for her able guidance,I wouldn’t be where I am right now.

Can’t thank you enough.

Mom,remember this song? You sing this everytime I feel scared, confused and sad. Thanks for being my pillar of strength, the wind beneath my wings. You’re the best in my book.Advance Happy Mother’s Day and you know that I love you….”

Toy Story

What looks like an ordinary house from the outside,is a child’s paradise on the inside. Oh and also for the kids at heart, like me. 🙂 Gushed at the sight of this awesome collection. The owner started collecting when he was still a little boy.Toys piled up,so he thought of putting up a toy museum for everyone to see.

Visita Iglesia in the Philippines

In Photo Blog, Uncategorized on April 5, 2012 at 2:43 pm

According to the Catholic Herald, the custom of visiting 7 churches on Maundy Thursday, goes back to the early church when Christians would visit the seven great basilicas in Rome for the adoration of the blessed sacrament after the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. So today, braved the sweltering heat to visit seven churches here in Manila. First stop was at the Santisimo Rosario Parish, which is located at the University of Santo Tomas,my alma mater. Second stop was San Agustin church in Intramuros, third was at San Miguel church, near Malacanang Palace, fourth and fifth was at the so-called twin churches,Saint Anthony and Loreto church, sixth was at the Calamba (Mother of Perpetual Help) church and the last stop was at the Our Lady of Lourdes church in Quezon city. A spiritually fulfilling Lenten season.

Earth Hour 2012

In Uncategorized on March 31, 2012 at 4:42 am

Today,March 31st,2012 marks the 5th year of Earth Hour, organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) which kicked-off in Sydney,Australia in 2007. For three consecutive years, the Philippines,a staunch supporter of the said advocacy, has been officially proclaimed as Earth Hour’s “hero country” . In 2011,1661 cities and municipalities participated in the 60 minute switch-off ceremony. A record-breaking feat. Total power savings’ huge (but wait, have to check out the population statistics now, might have boomed, what with the country plunged into darkness) 😀
So from 8:30-9:30pm,your call if you want to become part of this worthy cause. Lights On or Lights Off?
With this year’s slogan, “I Will If You Will”,there’s a flicker of hope to help save Mother Earth.

I Will Always Love You… Whitney – The Tribute

In Uncategorized on February 12, 2012 at 7:28 am

“Bittersweet memories
that is all I’m taking with me.
So, goodbye. Please, don’t cry.
We both know I’m not what you, you need.

And I will always love you.
I will always love you. “

I remember,as a teenage girl, belted out that song as if it’s a national anthem for me.Grew up listening to her soulful renditions of Miracle,One Moment in Time, Didn’t We Almost Have It All,I Believe In You and Me,Run To You,I Have Nothing and of course,The Greatest Love Of All. But my most favorite is I Know Him So Well,a duet with Cissy Houston, her mom. Whenever we have a gathering at home, our guests will request for my mom and I to sing this. She’s got one of the most powerful voices of all time,so powerful that you’ll wonder if she has some built-in amplifier in her voicebox.Never fails to give me the goosebumps everytime I listen to her sing from the heart. I was in deep shock when I first heard the news of her untimely demise. She has inspired people with her awesome musicality and memorable hits, and her charismatic presence on the silver screen is something else, but hers was a life full of struggle, pain and sadness. Truly, fame and fortune can’t buy you happiness and peace. But I’d rather remember her as one great contribution to the music industry. The recording and concert scene will never be the same without her.

I’ll never forget you,Whitney… You will forever be my pop, soul and r & b diva. May your soul rest in peace.
